President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić he said on Saturday that Serbia is in a difficult situation because of the question Kosova.
He stated at the International Conference on Global Politics in Chantilly, France that there may be changes in Serbia, for other political movements to come to power, but asked "do you really believe that there will be a different situation for those issues", and then answered: "No".
Vučić said that one cannot attack a country that does not recognize Kosovo's independence, citing China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and India.
"You think - we made a decision and that's it. The biggest and most powerful countries in the world didn't make that decision except for the United States of America. This is how we come to a situation where we are not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the European Union," said Vučić in a conversation with Conference founder Thierry de Montbrial.
He stated that Serbia also had recommendations in that regard, "to be part of the European defense system, but not NATO, but for the European Union to give something in return."
"We don't need the right of veto, commissioners, not even your funds. Someone has to create an opportunity for Serbia and the Serbian people and say: you can get this. You also have to understand our position, because you take 14 percent of someone's territory and tell that person: now you should be happy. That is not realistic," said Vučić.
He asked how it was that no one said that international law and the Charter of the United Nations had been violated in the case of Serbia.
Vučić called on the European Union to resolve the issue of the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova.
He said that the membership of Montenegro and Iceland is being talked about as a big undertaking, and that those countries have less than a million inhabitants.
He added that Europe needs "bold and strategic decisions" and that Europe should expand its influence in Africa and Asia.
