Time machine: The day the church stood by the students

January 1997 was miserable and cold. Protests over the theft of local elections were in full swing. For seven days, the police prevented students from passing through Kolarčeva Street. And then Patriarch Pavle decided that the liturgy of Saint Sava should pass through Belgrade, which, by the way, does not exist. Under the pressure of that decision, on the night between January 26 and 27, 1997, the cordon was withdrawn, and "Vreme" had a reporter on the spot.
