Police Department in Cacak and the public prosecutor on duty at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Čačak were informed about the event within 24 hours, since it happened, the statement of the Prosecutor's Office adds
"The action of the prosecution and the police was immediate, urgent, up-to-date and comprehensive. All measures and actions within the jurisdiction of the police, the public prosecution, the hospital and the Center for Social Work in Čačak were taken in order to determine what exactly happened and to provide the injured minor with the necessary support as a possible victims of violence", states the VJT in Čačak.
Investigation and documentation
They also point out that the procedure started on the same day and lasted without interruption for 72 hours, so that the procedure would have continued in its regular course.
"As it was a case with great public interest, emphasizing the unfounded claim that in this particular case it was about the rape of a minor committed in the school he attends, in order to protect the minor, the school and public safety, the prosecutor's office issued a statement immediately after, on the basis of medical records, information collected from all participants in the said criminal event and knowledge of what happened, for what reasons and how it happened, it was indisputably established that there was no rape and abuse of a minor persons in the school", the Prosecutor's Office emphasizes.
As they explain, the joint work of the prosecutor's office, the police, the school, the hospital and the Center for Social Work in Čačak continued, because it was established that during the event the minor suffered certain sexual harassment, which did not have elements of rape and illicit sexual acts, in connection with which a certain public prosecutor's decision is to be made and a request to initiate preliminary proceedings to the competent High Court in Čačak against the minor participants of the event.
Abuse or not?
"On this occasion, the prosecutor's office would not make a statement regarding the attempt to abuse this criminal legal event for daily political purposes, aimed at collapsing the integrity of state bodies: the school, the police and the public prosecutor's office, and questioning the safety of children in schools and other citizens," they conclude.
As a reminder, protests were organized in Mrčajevci because of this event, and parents demanded answers to how safe their children are at school.
