As the most important decisions for the life of the people of Belgrade, which were adopted at yesterday's session of the City Assembly, Mayor Aleksandar Šapić listed the development of the future metro, a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge, the introduction of the "Belgrade Card", as well as the decision for the city to take over the collection of tickets in public transport.
He said that the formal part related to the first line was finally completed, which created the conditions to precisely define future metro stations.
"It was necessary to make this decision at the meeting in order to start ordering that big 'mole' machine, which is specially made, because there is no model for the construction of every subway," he said and added that for now everything is going according to plan. plan and that he expects both metro lines to be completed in 2030.
A very important project, especially for the residents of New Belgrade, is the construction of a pedestrian-bicycle bridge from the New Belgrade blocks to Ada Ciganlija, pointed out Šapić.
"We came up with a plan based on which we can start designing that bridge, and I expect it to be finished by the end of the year." I am sure that this bridge will greatly change the daily life of the citizens of New Belgrade," said the mayor of Belgrade.
Speaking about the introduction of the "Belgrade Card", Šapić recalled the good experience he had as former president of the Novi Beograd municipality with the introduction of the "New Belgrade Card", which is used today by about 60.000 residents of that municipality.
Šapić pointed out that after 2011, the collection of public transport returned to the hands of the city of Belgrade and that until then the collection of tickets in city transport was 50 percent higher than today.
As reported by the Beoinfo portal, the Assembly of the City of Belgrade agreed yesterday with the final draft of the mutual termination of the contract on public-private partnership between the Secretariat for Public Transport and the Kentkart consortium.
That contract referred to the partnership in performing the activities of exploitation and maintenance of the ticket collection system, as well as the management of vehicles in public passenger transportation in Belgrade. Upon termination, none of the contractual parties will suffer damage, therefore they do not claim any compensation from each other.
The City of Belgrade founded the Public Utility Company "Naplata prevozne usluge Belgrade", so that work will be entrusted to it as an activity that is of general interest to the City of Belgrade. City manager Miroslav Čučković said that this is a historic decision, because it means that ticket collection will be transferred to the state.
