At that game, played on Tuesday, October 13, a group of boys from Čajetina brought the banner "Students win". For "Vreme" they say that they installed it during the first quarter and that it stood for 30 minutes, but at the first break they were asked to remove it, with the explanation that otherwise the game would not continue.
Cause of transparency security and the police came later, but did not intervene.
"We had no intention of removing the banner. Security came, who had the task of doing so, as well as the police, who did not intervene. We assume that the police came to react in case of an incident, which did not happen," they explain to "Vreme".
The banner was eventually removed at the request of general manager Đorđe Aleksandrić, who explained that otherwise the match would be registered as an official result in favor of the visiting team.
After removing the banner, the game continued, and Zlatibor won with a score of 99:80.
Arena requested removal
Fans from Čajetina claim that the Arena Sport television demanded the removal of the banner because it was seen on the television broadcast on the Arena Sport 9 channel.
It is interesting that Arena Sport did not mind the graffiti "Serbia is winning" painted on the stadium in Bežani, where the Arena League Champions tournament was held, which was broadcast by this television.
Director with SNS
The director of Arena Sport television, Nebojsa Žugić, publicly supports the policy of the Serbian Progressive Party and the former president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, as shown by his posts on Instagram. When Vučić resigned as President of Serbia on September 27, Žugić was among those gathered in front of the Presidency building.
The television station he runs is known for turning down the sound during matches when chanting against the regime. In his statement to Nova S, Žugić justified such practice with the need to "preserve professionalism and ethical standards."
