People or corruption?

Who do we see as "great experts" in that regime who supposedly know something? Mostly trained people with purchased diplomas. Evidently, the biggest "experts" with them are one person who allegedly graduated from a badly ranked correspondence business school in rural America, one twice-proven plagiarist, and one elderly woman who allegedly received her doctorate from a private university, where her party president completed a master's thesis at about the same time, the title of which he did not know when he was asked about it publicly. The student list has more than 140 Ph.D. These are people of incomparably greater abilities. There is no need to waste words on the difference between honesty and morality

ELECTIONS 2026: Turnout

14.October 2026 Nedim Sejdinovic

Every voter is more than a vote against the regime

The high turnout, say the interlocutors of "Vremen", will be an indicator of whether the Student Movement, as an unexpected political force that appeared after the Novi Sad tragedy, succeeded in restoring hope to the citizens that it is possible to get out of the impasse in which Serbia is stuck. At the same time, it will also be a sign that the progressives failed to drive a significant number of citizens who are against them into abstinence.

Bojan Pajtić and Dragan Popović talk for "Vreme" about what could happen after the closing of the polling stations, but also why the change starts before the formation of the new government

Choosing the best among the equally good

Although their focus is on the parliamentary elections, the students announced that they will have a candidate for president. Who and how will the students choose to represent the movement that insists on decentralization, and can that candidate gather a wide enough circle of voters and gain the support of the opposition? Will the outcome of the parliamentary elections determine the position from which students will enter the presidential race

An artist must not remain a social case

"The most difficult thing will be to remove the legacy of this government - the sediments of nationalism and clientelism that polluted the culture and its institutions. This includes the culture of individualism and personal interest, rivalry and suspicion among people. We want to pour into the cultural system a culture of togetherness, responsibility towards each other and solidarity from the student movement, but also many similar experiences that we gained on the independent cultural scene in the previous decades of struggle."
