Progressives they accept democracy as a necessary evil and they plant logs on her wherever and whenever they arrive.
They have the same attitude towards dialogue: they pretend to want him, and when they can't avoid him, they get into a conversation and fight when the interlocutor says something that the viewers shouldn't hear. The fighters of former Serbian President Vučić were drilled for destruction, instead of construction.
The topic of the second pre-election debate on TV N1 was the standard of living. They participated Dusan Bajatovic (SPS - "Ivica Dacic - Stability Factor"), Sinish Mali (SNS - "Aleksandar Vučić - United Serbia") i Dusan Nikezic (SSP – "European Serbia"). They confirmed the impression after first in which the forces weighed Ana Brnibic i Mirjana Nikolić: invisible, inaudible, senseless.
Except for fans of reality shows whose goal is to put your competitor down, jump over, insult, silence, humiliate.
Representatives take care of that. Šešelj's debate schools in whose tradition those few progressives who have Aleksandar Vučić's permission to open their mouths independently in front of cameras and microphones are trained.
Perhaps her best student is Vladimir Orlic, current head of the BIA, former president of the Serbian Parliament. Until he retired to the secret service, no one was equal to him in the discipline of not being heard during a debate.
Cacophony
Dialogue has simple rules: you say something, then someone else, a third person says something; while one speaks, the others remain silent. Interlocutors exchange arguments, present their views. And so in a circle. In political, or any other public discussion, they try to win listeners and viewers.
Those who watched the extract from the Nikezić-Bajatović-Mali debate on the news on N1 got the impression that it was a very nice and polished debate, during which the participants listened politely and respectfully to each other.
It's just that those were probably the only sixty seconds that could be extracted from the general cacophony. Little Koje took care of that Nikezića interrupted with verbal bursts. Technically, the Minister of Finance looked straight into the camera, instead of the interlocutor, as he was taught to establish direct contact with the audience and show contempt for those present in the studio.
Maybe something improved after the first forty minutes, but by then the author of this text had already given up on the uproar.
Jovo Bakić vs Aleksandar Vučić
The election headquarters of the Student List made the correct decision that their representative - probably Dejan Šoškić, professor of economics and former governor of the National Bank - does not participate in this economic debate.
They realized that they would only give a respectable name to the show of democracy, because, it has been shown so many times, you cannot talk to people whose power is based on killing all public conversation, on monologue, instead of dialogue.
Ignoring everything previously written, however, we should strongly support the TV duel between Aleksandar Vučić and Jove Bakić, one on one. That would be something completely different. It's just that the former president of Serbia will not dare to engage in it.
