On the top floor of a solitaire on the top of Banovo brdo, surrounded by guitars, CDs, records, we talk with Srđan Gojković Gilet, the first man of Electric Orgasm for the past twenty years.
Kada se appeared Packages arrangement, him niko od participants it is not satisfied.
All three bands saw the album as a stopover for a solo album. We were high on energy, we had enough songs for a stand-alone record and it was a bummer to make a record with two other bands. It's even in the first version Packages Arrangement apart from Sharlo, Idol and us, the album should also include the group Tunel and Bajaga, who, in addition to playing in Riblja Chorba, also had a band called Frka, with the song "Ma pusti me druže". Of course, no one wanted to agree to that. We barely agreed to have these three bands on the record, but there was such a connection between them. We all appeared in one place at the same time, and the new wave had a decisive influence on all of us. Sharlo and Orgazam were part of the same team that gathered around SKC, we performed together, while we viewed Idol as a make-up band that was too commercial for us at the time. I think we only met them afterwards Packages arrangement, to then become partners and remain until today. Another thing that nobody was happy with was the production, but none of us knew anything about that at the time.
Pankrti, Theater, Beijing strap, Azra, Parafor already su 1980. had my plates. Why su Belgrade new wave bands bili the last one which su get plate?
We were completely ignored by the Belgrade institutions, except of course SKC and the youth press, but everyone knew we existed. The fame about Belgrade's alternative rock and roll scene started long before Packages arrangement. Even without a record, we were already a well-established band thanks to articles in two of the most influential youth magazines at the time - Belgrade's "Džuboks" and Zagreb's "Polet". The power of "Jukebox" and "Poleta" was incredible for today's times. One of the crucial points for our affirmation was the big interview in "Polet" with us and Šarlo, which was done by Goran Gajić, who later became a director. At that time, no one knew about us, except for a small circle of people around SKC, and suddenly a huge interview appeared with us as with big bands. Orgasm was then on the front page of "Poleta", which greatly affected the members of Šarlo... (laughs) Later, Enzo Lesić, who had a private studio, smelled that there could be something there, and rushed in with the idea of Packages arrangement. We started recording without any contract with a publisher. That's how the fame about Belgrade's alternative scene reached Zagreb, and Siniša Škarica, the editor of Jugoton, came to Belgrade and when he heard the recordings - we signed a contract. That's what our status was when, in addition to the publisher in Belgrade, we had to go to Zagreb to release a record. That was the case until the end of the eighties.
Except youth press, where th more received logistical support, i by which channels th found out za current world production?
SKC had a crucial importance. Nebojša Pajkić, who was then the editor of the External Program of SKC, organized our first concert and enabled us to play and practice. He and Momcilo Rajin are the most responsible for SKC becoming an alternative place that gathered avant-garde, progressive, urban crew. Another important thing was the Rock and Roller TV show that Boris and Tucko did, which was for television what Packages arrangement was for rock and roll. A significant role in the formation of bands was played by Sloba Konjović, who educated the youth musically, and was the only one who played music at Studio B that directly influenced us to form bands. In this sense, a turning point was also one concert - The Ruts in the Pinky Hall. I remember that when Milan and I, who until then had shoulder-length hair, met a few days after the concert, we both had our hair cut to three millimeters.
How je sve what se happened u to times it seemed iz yours perspectives?
It was a real euphoria, but it didn't last long - since '80. at least until the end of '82, when everything started to wind down. It coincided with the appearance of punk and new wave in the world, which were revolutionary rock and roll movements, and here in our country it got an additional dimension of the political underground, thus creating a strange mixture. Enemies of the system, in that fashion... We were playing at the time, especially since we had to operate through some kind of codes, which can be guessed by anyone, but which not everyone can crack in order not to ban your record. We were kids who finally managed to get what they wanted - to play in a rock and roll band and have someone care about it. I don't remember that it was ever crazier in Belgrade than in those two years. Twenty parties every night, in some villas... Total madness... Everyone was in euphoria, not only the bands, but also the audience, everyone... It lasted for about two years, and then it went in different directions.
What je to especially i new brought Packages arrangement?
The biggest thing is that he showed everyone that anyone can do it. Until Packages arrangement there was a rule that you had to be a sick person who plays the guitar on a crate for six hours, and then plays at weddings for six years and what do I know... We formed a band, played for three months, Jugoton came, signed a contract and made the most famous record of all time . After us, the kids realized that they could do the same thing, and soon a flood of bands appeared, who, like us, believed that it was not the form, the playing skill, but the idea that was important. And in order to be a rock musician, you don't need to know what, you just need to turn on the amplifier.
How big je circulation Packages arrangement?
The album has sold a total of 20.000 copies during all this time. I think the initial circulation was 10.000.
That's it je terrible bad za UN Yugoslavia.
Yes, but on the other hand it's normal. Look, there were a hundred people at the Velvet Underground's first concert, but all those hundred people later formed their own bands. At least a thousand people from those who bought the record and grew up on it Packages arrangement later they formed their own bands. Most often, the most influential records are not the best sellers. That's how it was and will be.
Za novi talas je important interaction Beograd-Zagreb.
We all met at that legendary youth rock festival in Subotica in the '80s. We slept as if on a labor action in some pavilions, Haustor, Film, Charlo, we. I remember that we played football dead drunk at four in the morning... That Subotica was a gathering of the craziest people in Yugoslavia in one place. We were then the only disqualified band from the festival because we completely destroyed the stage that looked like the worst Split festival with some mirrors and lights like from a fair. We turned out to be the biggest punks of all... (laughs) The association of musicians from Zagreb and Belgrade started from then. When Rundek came to Belgrade, he slept at my place, I at his place in Zagreb. Belgrade bands fared better in Croatia than here, and vice versa. We played so much around Croatia that many people thought we were a Croatian band.
Da li je war in the nineties largest defeat yours generation?
It was not the war of the generation to which I belong. It was started by generations older than ours.
...who su also bile Year generation. Milosevic i Jagger su this year.
Yes, they are even the same sign in the horoscope and the same year, they are both Leo and Snake. It doesn't matter. Tony Blair also had a rock band so he's a jerk. Clinton played the sax so he's a jerk. As soon as you go into politics, it's over... You have to be a jerk to do politics. I have always seen my involvement as an individual position and not as part of any organized political group. Even then, it was clear to everyone from my generation that we were living in an idiotic system, the only question was how long it would last, and it lasted too long.
Many People which su tada did Year the scene i moron one time su na different ways gone iz rock and roll
Yes. What would Harms say, all good people, not to be taken by the roots. (laughter) Some people were carried away by the moment, like Krstić and Šaper, who didn't have a light relationship with music even then. Some people understood music as a youthful hobby... It all depends on what kind of attitude they had towards playing in a band, whether it was the most important thing in their life, like it was for me, or it was all a joke for them to hook up some chicks and go out front page. Those who were real are still here today, except for Milan, who unfortunately is not alive. The government, Koja and I are still actively working in the way we did 20 years ago.
