REC determined the final number of voters in the elections
The Republic Election Commission (REC) made a decision today on determining the final number of voters in Serbia
Photo: Tara Radovanović/TanjugThe list "Mi glas iz naroda - Branimir Nestorović" won, according to preliminary results, 4,8 percent of the votes in the parliamentary elections, that is, 5,3 percent of the votes in Belgrade. She is also the biggest surprise of these elections. Who voted for her?
Many people wonder how Nestorović, known for mocking the corona virus and propagating conspiracy theories on obscure portals and podcasts, managed to achieve such a result?
It seems that for many his views on "cloning", "portals to other dimensions", "processes and vaccines that kill children" are not so obscure. Social networks, especially Telegram, are full of groups and channels that daily produce dozens of news about various conspiracy theories - from corona and anti-vaxxers, to spying through 5G networks, to "spraying" and "chipping" people.
By entering just one such group on Telegram, a potential reader can in a short period of time find dozens of similar ones who share the same, unverified information.
Some of them have tens of thousands of members, while the number of views of similar shows on YouTube is measured in the hundreds of thousands. These nurseries of misinformation flourished after the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic, when in Belgrade, around the monument of Stefan Nemanja, people's cars danced against vaccines and lockdowns. Nevertheless, even after the end of the pandemic, the spread of disinformation continued even more "imaginatively" and extensively.
From anti-vaxxers to anti-globalists
Anti-vaxxers have also become anti-globalists, fighters against migrants, the pollination of people, the deep state and the new world order.
Members of Telegram disinformation groups are mostly younger people, men, with predominantly right-wing ideological views.
Doctor Branimir Nestorović is a regular guest and a "reliable" source for quoting these information channels.
Surprising or not, the fact is that the positions advocated by Doctor Nestorović have long since been a statistical error of the marginal rightists. On the contrary, what the new Belgrade government will look like will depend on him, and those who wonder "how is this possible" will have four years to think about the causes of the popularity of the former "knight of the order of the dragon".
