The accused for the murder of nine people in Mali Orašje and Dubona Uroš Blažić at the trial in the Special Court in Belgrade, he admitted the commission of the criminal offense charged against him.
He expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and added that he cannot bring back those he killed.
Blažić asked not to answer the prosecution's question about the night of May 4, stating that they wanted to pretend that he wanted to commit a theoretical act, and that is "not true".
"I am guilty and I am ready to face any sentence," said Blažić, who is charged with murder, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, kidnapping and unauthorized use of another's vehicle, adding that his father has nothing to do with his actions and that he has no reason to suffer because of him.
He added that he noticed his penchant for weapons in 2020, when he came of age, as well as that he felt unsafe, and that he illegally acquired weapons.
Blažić said that his family did not know that he had acquired a weapon, because he lived alone in the house, and especially not his father.
He added that he realized that the legal purchase of weapons does not make sense and that he engaged in the purchase of weapons without even being aware of it.
As he said, first he bought a flare gun, then he saw that it was not what he wanted and then he got an automatic rifle for which he had 30 rounds and then he tried the rifle in the basement.
He wanted to become an officer, but he didn't feel like it
"Then I can't explain the vicious circle of acquiring those weapons." "Like a mouse in a hole, cheese and leaves, that's how I used to draw weapons," said Blažić and added that many injustices were done to him, that he was robbed in the village, but that he was ashamed to tell his family.
Uruš Blažić said that he did not want to turn out to be a bandit, that he was a "bum", "I would beat up a taxi driver" and that he wanted to "be a host", that he wanted to become an officer, but that he did not feel like it.
His father, Radiša Blažić, whom the prosecution accuses of being in a state of reduced sanity, but not essential, procured weapons, weapon parts, explosives and ammunition, which citizens are not allowed to possess, declared that he is not guilty and expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
He stated that as an employee of the Army, he knew that it was not legal and that it could have consequences for people's lives, adding that he knew that misdemeanor charges with elements of violence had been filed against his son Uros when he was a minor and an adult.
"I don't know where the weapon came from, from which side and where it came from," said Radiša Blažić.
Trial history
At the preparatory hearing, which was closed to the public Uroš Blažić partially admitted that he committed mass murder, while his father denied guilt for the weapon that was found in the house.
The preliminary hearing in this case was held at the end of July in the courtroom of the District Prison in Belgrade, and due to the size of the courtroom, only four injured parties could attend.
Previously, in May, the preliminary hearing was interrupted as soon as the defendants were brought into the courtroom of the High Court in Smederevo because the families of the killed and wounded attacked them.
At the beginning of August, the President of the Supreme Court made a decision to hold the trial in the largest courtroom in the building of the Special Department for Organized Crime of the High Court in Belgrade, that is, in the Special Court.
This courtroom is divided into three parts by bars and thick glass.
In the first part, the judge, prosecutors, lawyers and injured parties will sit and they will be separated from Blažić by bars and glass.
The third part of the courtroom is reserved for the audience.
Uroš Blažić is accused of killing nine and wounding 4 people on May 12 last year.
His father, Radiša Blažić, was charged with the weapons that were found in his house.
