Vučićeva official campaign it is not against the letter of the law, but against its spirit. Basically, the head of state and the entire Ćaciland visits Serbia all day long, addresses, praises and promises endlessly, and also tries to humanize his cult of personality. That is, to show that he is a man of the people in the mold of the unsuspecting tent king DJ Vučićević.
Tortured people look at him and listen to see if they would seize a moment of compassion from him in the hope that he would solve some personal problem. It is nothing new, but it is a public outcry from the pain of his supporters.
How much is the presidential word worth?
The reader knows that the resident of Nova Varoša threw Vučić in the face that the progressives cheated her for employment even though she collected twenty sure votes for SNS; that in Prokuplje he heard from an elderly woman that he did not give the promised financial aid to a certain Milijana; that a worker in Blac told him that he was fired because he did not go to the progressive meeting...
Vučić's answers - actually "extractions" - did not seem convincing to anyone except Ana Brnabić. But why did these protests take place in the interior, where undisguised regime repression reigns?
At the mercy of others
The first reason is that the progressive electorate has no one to turn to except Vučić. It voted for him, by no means for the people he put at the head of local self-governments or sat in ministerial chairs.
The second reason is institutional failure. Because what can we expect from a government under which prosecutors' cars are burned, policemen and mobsters sit at the same table, and the arrogant regime caste gets rich thanks to systemic corruption?
And, in the end, Serbia is a neglected and devastated country where nothing works except the cult of personality. Who to complain to? Well, to none other than Vučić. In his hands are a knife and a cake. If he shows mercy - good, and if not - what can a person lose? Nothing, but absolutely nothing while he and his people are in power.
No more on the subject.
This very reason is the key because of which individuals put Vučić under the mustache of everything against which the society, led by the students, rebelled.
No matter how lonely those voices seem, they are the spokesmen of a silent progressive electorate tired of empty promises, lies, waiting, disappointed hopes...
Vučić has nothing left to deliver to them except words and a few "red" bills.
It is quite certain that a good part of those citizens will still stay with him. But their price will increase day by day and will have to be paid in advance. Roughly - first employment, and only then collecting safe votes. The era of "I come to you" jobs and services is over.
