The principal of the Požarevac high school, Danijela Žukovski, is facing pressure and threats of dismissal after the entire teaching staff supported the high school graduates' protests, "Vreme" has learned.
"It was hinted to her that she would be replaced." Of course, the progressives are now waiting for the protests to die down a bit," says a well-informed source.
The students of the gymnasium in Požarevac go out to the nearby Kosovska Street at 11:52 every day and block traffic, paying respect to the victims under the Novi Sad canopy and supporting student protests throughout Serbia.
Last week, high school graduates blocked classes in the first shift.
Mafia attack on the family
Unlike some other schools, the Požarevac High School has the full support of teachers and principals. Some teachers join the blockades.
That, as well as the teacher's suspension of work, brought Danijela Žukovski trouble with the progressive city and school authorities, say "Vremena" interlocutors. Inspections comb the school, the headmistress is called for interviews.
But not only that - the director's husband Žukovski, an electrical engineer at the thermal power plant in Kostolac, has just been removed from his management position. This engineer with a decade of experience will thus have the position and salary of an intern.
"It's all pressure on Daniela Žukovski," says our source, describing the mafia-like methods of government. "They're hitting on the family."
Firefighter wakes up?
For Žukovski, we hear that he is in Požarevac - an incident. Maltene is the only headmistress without a party card in the city, which is firmly held by progressives and socialists, and she still enjoys the unreserved support of teachers.
The many protests in Požarevac and the courage of students and teachers remind us of the year 2000, when we finally stood up against our compatriot Slobodan Milošević, even though his son Marko was terrorizing the city with his thugs.
Now, not only the students are protesting, but also the students of the Academy of Vocational Studies of the Polytechnic have been in the blockade since Wednesday.
