What happened on March 15, 2025.
At the largest protest in the history of Serbia held on March 15, 2025 at the invitation of students, 15 minutes of silence was held as part of the program (later another person succumbed to injuries) for the victims of the falling canopy in Novi Sad.
In the 11th minute, there was a sound, which the citizens later described as similar to the crash of an airplane or some vehicle that at high speed encountered the people gathered in Ulica Kralja Milana, from the direction of Terazija towards Slavia.
The crowd in this part of the city split into two and there was great panic among the people. In the following days, accusations that a sonic weapon - a "sound cannon" - was used became public.

The authorities denied that any of the above had happened, but it was discovered that the police possessed sound cannons called LRAD 450XL, which they first claimed they did not possess at all, then that they had them but were sitting in warehouses, and in the end it was discovered that the devices were still mounted on police vehicles, and that those vehicles were on the streets of Belgrade that day.
After that incident, a large number of citizens contacted doctors, reporting similar symptoms - dizziness, headache, nausea and ringing in the ears.
Brussels also reacted to the allegations that a "sound cannon" was used, demanding an investigation into the incident, however, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office headed by Nenad Stefanović already on March 16 ordered the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office to open a case in order to identify the persons who "spread false information in the public" that dozens of citizens with ailments were cared for in the UKCS Emergency Center.

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić On April 16, 2025, he stated that the allegations of the use of a "sound cannon" at the student protest on March 15 in Belgrade were "a pre-organized and deliberate attack on the state in order to provoke absolute instability and the violent overthrow of the constitutional order."
Vučić previously announced that the American FBI and the Russian FSB would also investigate this matter, but only the FSB eventually published a report stating that "based on the results obtained, a categorical conclusion can be made that the LRAD transmitter-type acoustic devices owned by the Serbian police authorities were not used during the protests."
