Hand-made or not, this is not the first incident in Serbia involving an aerial vehicle with weapons. Recreationists and sportsmen, in shooting ranges, shoot air guns, which are loaded with diabolos, not powder bullets. On the shooting line, without exception, all rules are followed, and above all that the weapon is never turned towards the person, writes RTS.
The owner of the shooting range, Dalibor Fatić, points out for the public service that in their club, before the start of shooting, they learn the rules of behavior with weapons, that is, precautions.
"We have two rules that everyone must follow. Firstly, that the finger must never be on the trigger until the weapon is pointed in the direction of the target, and secondly, that the barrel must always be turned towards the ceiling, towards the target or towards the floor. We do not get into whether the weapon is loaded or empty," Fatić points out.
From play to injury
The rules also apply outside the shooting range - always remember that even though it's aerial, a weapon is a weapon. Rifles can be bought over the counter by showing an ID card, which is not reported to the MUP.
"All rifles are D category, which means that the energy of the grain does not exceed seven joules, that is, the velocity of the grain when exiting the barrel must not exceed 200 meters per second. You can injure someone with irresponsible handling. You cannot kill, but the possibility of injury exists," explains Fatić.
When asked what kind of injuries can occur, Fatić points out that the grain usually ends up under the skin, which is removed surgically, that is, minor injuries occur.
In Obrenovac a few days ago, two minor boys were playing with a hand-made air rifle. One of them was wounded on that occasion.
"Loopholes" in the law and scaring animals
The rifle has been sent for expert examination, after which the prosecution will respond. It is a criminal offense and the qualification is pending.
Ranka Jović from the Administration for Administrative Affairs of the Police Administration for the city of Belgrade, in a guest appearance in the Belgrade Chronicle, said that they control the sale of air weapons of all categories, stressing that they are primarily intended for shooting sports.
"Air weapons are not toys and should not be used for shooting or scaring animals. They are intended for recreation, there is a lot of accompanying safety equipment," says Jović, who notes that mostly the most disciplined citizens are gun owners, i.e. sports shooters and hunters.
Instructor for the safe handling of weapons Ivan Urošević points out that the law stipulates where, who and how weapons can be acquired and used, but that it was not clear regarding the use of air weapons in open areas, such as rural areas.
"The problem is when people are told that a weapon is not lethal, such as an air weapon, they think it is safe. Although it is not lethal, it is very dangerous and can lead to serious injuries if it is used unprofessionally," says Urošević.
