During January and February, RTS1, Pink, Happy, TV Prva and B92 broadcast performances, conferences and statements of President Aleksandar Vučić for 143 hours.
Of that, 51 hours were live, and Vučić's statements from social networks were broadcast 535 times.
This was calculated by the Bureau of Social Research (Birodi) in a new report that "Vreme" has access to.
Those 143 hours are shown on 2 hours and 26 minutes of Vučić on national television - every day.
So, not counting cable television in Telekom's cosmos such as Informer, Kurir, Tanjug and others, not counting the president's Instagram that the tabloids regularly broadcast and not counting the countless "debate" shows in which guests repeat what Vučić said or praise him.
The champion of the analyzed channels is Pink with 62,6 hours of Vučić in two months. It is followed by B92 (27,5 hours), then the first program of RTS (19,9), and TV Prva (18,7) and Happy (14,6).
"Legitimation of personal authority"
"This is proof of media drugging of public opinion through the media that have the greatest influence on the electorate that supports Vučić," says Zoran Gavrilović, the first man of Birodi.
He told "Vreme" that the authorities are using the gap in the work of the REM Council for even more aggressive propaganda, although, admittedly, REM is not doing its job properly. Gavrilović thinks that by exaggerating Vučić's performances, pluralism of the media in Serbia has been damaged in another way.
"The goal is to legitimize personal power, that is, that the media, instead of informing and debating, deals with promotion, propaganda and retaliation," he adds.
Vučić's statements are especially concentrated in prime time and daily newspapers. Birodi's graph shows that the most fertile time for Vučić is between 18 pm and 20 pm.
