The President of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), Dragan Đilas, believes that it would be important for Serbia to create a broad social consensus on the subject of Kosovo, relevant political factors and institutions important to the Serbian people.
"Consensus can be reached on the principles of respect for the Constitution, Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council and readiness for the Serbian side to talk with the Albanian side about everything, except for the recognition of Kosovo's independence," he said today in a guest appearance on TV Prva.
"Citizens of Serbia expect unity from their representatives on the most important state issues, such as the issue of Kosovo and Metohija," he said, stressing that "the politicians especially owe it to the Serbs who have been living in Kosovo and Metohija for 23 years, even though they are exposed to pressure from both the Pristina authorities and , as well as criminal structures in the north".
In this sense, at the session of the Parliament on Tuesday, the parliamentary group United - SSP, PSG, PZP and Sloga will present the Initiative on dialogue with Pristina.
Regarding the introduction of sanctions against Russia, he said that it is time for Serbia to look at its own interests, as all other countries do, as well as Russia itself in relation to Serbia. There are many such examples, he said, "from the refusal to import cars from Serbia to Russia without customs duties, to the fact that Gazprom in Russia pays 22 percent of the mineral rent for gas and oil, and three percent in Serbia."
Serbia's interest, Dragan Đilas emphasized, is to "avoid isolation from the rest of Europe, which could happen if it does not introduce certain economic measures towards Russia." This would result in a huge number of people without work and endangering the existence of a large number of families."
