The public company "Ada Ciganlija" today warned citizens not to swim or stay in the water of Lake Sava, because it is very risky at this time.
According to them, the water temperature has not yet reached the level of 22 degrees, as predicted by the international standard for safe swimming.
"We ask everyone to refrain from entering the water until the official opening of the swimming season, when the rescue service and the medical aid service will be on duty at the lake and intervene to prevent potentially life-threatening situations for irresponsible visitors," the statement said.
It was announced that JP "Ada Ciganlija" will officially inform the public about the date of the start of the official swimming season on Lake Sava.
More lake monitoring needed
At the end of this school year, between two and a half and three thousand high school graduates gathered at Ada Ciganlija to celebrate the end of school. On that occasion, two high school graduates jumped from the kayak pontoons into the water with a group of about 30 friends.
As reported by the media, security guards on duty at the lake acted preventively throughout the day and removed children from the water. A security guard working at the Ada Ciganlija Video Surveillance Center noticed that a group of high school graduates had jumped into the water. When the children were removed from the water, two children were reported missing, who were later found to have drowned.
On that day, the rescue services and the medical aid service did not work, considering that the season was not open, and the water temperature was 16 degrees.
