Today, one hundred grams of ground coffee costs around two hundred dinars, unless it is on discount. While for ground coffee of better quality than 200 grams, you need to spend between 400 and 455 dinars. Earlier, in 2019, such coffee cost 300 dinars, and 250 on discounts.
According to the latest data of the Republic Institute of Statistics, for August of this year, the average price of a kilogram of coffee in Serbia was 1.864 dinars.
Exactly one year earlier, in August 2023, it was 1.712 dinars, and in August 2022 it was 1.504 dinars.
So, from 2022 to today, one hundred grams of average coffee has risen in price by 36 dinars.
An indispensable drink
Along with work, leisure, neighborly conversations, studying, coffee is an indispensable beverage. Jovana from Belgrade, who drinks up to four coffees a day, tells "Vreme" that coffee has not only become a necessity for better concentration, but also a drink she enjoys.
She adds that the increase in the price of coffee is noticeable, and she buys filter coffee in stock when it is at a discount of up to 50 percent, so she has enough coffee until the next promotion.
"I buy domestic coffee from a roaster because the quality is much better," she says.
He states that on a monthly basis he spends about 3.000 dinars on coffee, if he does not count spending in cafes or coffee on the way.
Arabica rose in price by more than 70 percent
Since the beginning of the year, coffee has risen in price on the stock market by an average of 54,66 percent. At the same time, Arabica prices have increased by 50 percent since the beginning of the year, and Robusta prices have increased by around 65 percent, writes New Economy.
However, according to the media, since the end of 2023, domestic distributors have noticed an increase in the purchase price of Arabica by more than 70 percent, and Robusta by almost 230 percent.
