As announced by the Minister of Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, the new deadline is June 6.
"The State of Serbia has just been informed that MOL has been given two more weeks to complete negotiations with Gazpromneft on the purchase of the Russian stake in the company NIS, until June 6", stated Dubravka Đedović Handanović on her Instagram account.
It is specific that OFAK only gave MOL two weeks to buy NIS. It was expected that this permission for the deal might be extended until June 21st, when the license with which NIS can operate without sanctions expires.
As the minister pointed out, the Government of Serbia continues negotiations with MOL regarding the shareholders' agreement.
"The situation is complex, but our goal and job is to find a long-term solution and to protect the interests of the state of Serbia," said Đedović Handanović.
