As Forbes Serbia writes, the Government of Serbia has proposed changes to the law that regulates the implementation of the project "Belgrade on water", and the key change refers to the extension of the deadline for implementation expropriations of land needed to continue the project.
It is about the so-called lex specialis for "Belgrade on the water", a special law adopted in 2015 which introduced special procedures for resolving property-legal relations, land expropriation and issuing building permits for the realization of this project.
According to Forbes, the proposed changes would allow the extension of the period in which the procedure for expropriation of real estate included in the project can be initiated and completed.
In the explanation of the proposal, it is stated that certain expropriation procedures have not yet been completed, which is why it is necessary to extend the deadline in order to enable further implementation of the planned activities.
A special law for "Belgrade on the water" enabled accelerated procedures compared to regular regulations, with the explanation that it is a project of special importance for the Republic of Serbia and the City of Belgrade.
According to Forbes Serbia, this is not the first time that the deadlines stipulated by this law have been changed. Earlier, changes were made to enable the completion of procedures related to the resolution of property issues in the area of โโthe Sava coast.
The "Belgrade on the Water" project is one of the largest urban projects in Serbia, and its implementation includes the construction of residential, business and infrastructure facilities in the area along the Sava River in the center of the capital.
With the new amendments to the lex specialis, the state wants to extend the possibility of solving the remaining property-legal issues and enable the continuation of the project implementation.
