With the signing of the contract for the sale of the "Slavija" hotel with the representatives of the "Matijević" company, the privatization of that facility has been completed, announced the Ministry of Economy of Serbia.
The announcement did not specify the details of the sale.
Three buildings on Slavija Square in the center of Belgrade were put up for sale, and the initial price for the purchase of all buildings was 24,9 million euros.
Eight interested parties, one offer
The Ministry of Economy announced a public call for the sale of capital of the company "Slavija hotels" in October.
However, although the documents for the purchase of the hotel were bought by eight companies, only the company "Matijević", whose founder and owner is businessman Petar Matijević, i.e. its real estate company "Mat Real Estate", submitted an offer for the purchase, so the auction was not even held. it says daily newspaper Danas.
The son of the owner of the company, Zoran Matijević, previously said that the plan was to renovate the facilities, to keep the hotel operating, and to renovate the smaller hotel "Slavija Lux garni" first.
The rest, he adds, will take more time.
"For this larger part of the hotel, i.e. the tower and the oldest building, the plan is to bring it to use by 2027," Matijević once told Danas.
Petar Matijević tried to buy the hotel "Slavija Lux" in 2018 in a procedure initiated by the public executor, but the sale was annulled as the Commercial Court in Belgrade determined that a final decision must first be made as to whether "Slavija" is in debt.
What was sold?
All three objects of Hotel "Slavija", the old part, the tower and Slavija Lux, have 460 rooms and 11 suites, according to the document of the Ministry of Finance.
The document also states that the company has 210 employees. The total area of all three of these buildings is more than 30.000 square meters.
History of Hotel "Slavija"
The complex of this company consists of three buildings built in different time periods.
Hotel "Slavija I" was built in 1962 as a "B" category hotel with two basements, a ground floor, a mezzanine and 17 floors.
Hotel "Slavija II" was built in 1973 as an "A" category hotel with seven floors.
"Slavija III" or Slavija Lux was built in 1989, with two basements, a ground floor and seven floors.
As explained on the website of the Ministry of Economy, today "Slavija I" and "Slavija II" are two-star hotels, and "Slavija III" is a four-star hotel.
Hotels "Slavija" previously operated as part of the national airline JAT.
However, on June 14, 2005, the board of directors of "JAT Airways" made a decision, on the basis of which the entire share and founding rights of that company were transferred to the state of Serbia, free of charge. reminds Today.
