On November 5, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted legal amendments that allow the official symbols of Serbia, the coat of arms of Nemanjić (a double-headed eagle with a crown) and the hymn "God's Justice" to be used as official symbols of that entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
These are the symbols of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina canceled in 2006 from official landmarks in the Republic of Srpska, judging that they discriminate against Bosniaks and Croats in that BiH. entity, it says Radio Free Europe.
The proposal to amend the Law on the Use of the Anthem, Coat of Arms and Flag of the RS was adopted with 61 votes in favor and four against.
According to the adopted changes, flags and coats of arms can be displayed in the institutions of that BiH entity, and anthems of foreign countries with which the RS has an agreement on the establishment of special parallel relations can be performed.
Given that the RS has such an agreement with Serbia, this practically means that the Serbian anthem "God's Justice" can be broadcast at the sessions of the entity parliament. The flag of Serbia with the coat of arms of Nemanjić will be flown in front of and inside the RS Assembly building.
