Head of the Drug Department of the Belgrade Police Slobodan Milenkovic today at the High Public Prosecutor's Office, he exercised his right not to answer any of the questions asked. His lawyer Zdenko Tomanović stated that "there is no basis for a police officer, in his capacity as a citizen, to reveal the most confidential professional secrets and provide information".
Milenković explained his refusal to answer the questions by stating that a constitutional complaint is being submitted to the Constitutional Court for violation of the right to life, as well as a complaint to the Protector of Citizens regarding illegality in the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Prosecutor's Office demands that the evidence on the filing of appeals and complaints be submitted to them within three days.
The inspector was at the prosecutor's office last week as well, but he called for keeping an "official secret". After that, by the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandar Vulin, he was released from keeping an official secret, and Tomanović said that this ministerial decision requires the inspector to reveal "his most confidential professional secrets, which not only endangers the life of Slobodan Milenkovic, but also that of his colleagues."
He added that he will ask for a postponement of the execution of this decision, as well as that his client came to the prosecutor's office wanting to talk to state institutions, but that he is being heard as a citizen in the context of the "criminalization campaign whose goal is to decriminalize the Jovanjica affair."
Milenkovic arrived at the prosecutor's office accompanied by only one colleague and a member of security, and he left immediately after the hearing.
The prosecution's interest in Inspector Slobodan Milenkovic began when former MUP State Secretary Dijana Hrkalović, who is on trial for influence peddling, accused him of being a drug lord and not the first defendant in the case of Jovanjic Predrag Koluvija. Until then, he was "only" the target of tabloids and pressure from the authorities.
Milenkovic's lawyer announced that he will probably internationalize the whole case.
The entire case in the prosecutor's office is labeled "strictly confidential", as are most "tricky" topics for the government, so the public does not know what is going on inside the Palace of Justice.
