Republic Election Commission (REK) she determined that there are 6.450.523 voters in Serbia extraordinary parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25. The data were taken from the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government after the conclusion of the Unified Voters' List.
The decision was made despite the objections of some members of the Commission, who expressed doubts about the reliability of the records and pointed to the inconsistency of data on voters, FoNet reported.
REC member Sofija Mandić reminded that in the September report OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) pointed to an unusually large number of voters in certain places. According to her, additional concern is caused by the fact that the number of registered voters is almost equal to the total number of inhabitants of Serbia, although these two categories should not coincide.
Mandić also stated that they are members of the Audit Commission electoral roll indicated that data on the number of adult citizens during work was not available to them.
Nothing from the revision of the voter list
REC member Tanasije Marinković also expressed doubts about the official figures, who expected the Commission to receive a report on the revision of the voter list, announced for the beginning of September. Referring to the indications of individual members of the commission in charge of the audit, he warned of serious inconsistencies in the various records and announced that he would not support the adoption of the decision on the number of voters.
The problem of possible deviations was pointed out by Jelena Vranješ, a member of the REC, who stated that the number of voters for the parliamentary elections in Novi Sad differs significantly from the number of voters for the local elections in that city. According to her, the difference is about 10.000 people.
Speaking about voting abroad, RIK President Vladimir Dimitrijević announced that 102.147 voters registered to vote at 93 polling stations.
Dimitrijević pointed out that the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government is responsible for determining the voter list, while it is the responsibility of the RIK to publish it.
