Citizens gathered in front of the court in Novi Sad to provide support Jovan Ikić from Bački Jark which, as they say, is in hit a man in self-defense at the meeting in Futog. His hearing is today in court, and before that he was detained for 48 hours.
Marko Zarić, Jovan's lawyer, says that his client settled with the competent prosecutor's office and reached a plea agreement for the criminal offense of violent behavior at a public event or sports gathering, and that he received house arrest for a year with electronic monitoring.
"He will be released today, and later a decision will be made when the measure of house arrest will begin. This decision was made in the conversation with Jovan. In the second variant, a decision would be made on detention, and bearing in mind that he is not from that milieu and that any detention would have consequences, we settled," said the lawyer.
The assembly of citizens in Futog called for a gathering in front of the court today, because as they say in a post on social networks, the attacker who threw paint at people as well as the performers on stage, the Belgrade Union group, was not prosecuted and is still at large, while their neighbor who defended the citizens ended up in the police.
Feđa Dimović, a member of the Belgrade Union group, said in front of the court that on Saturday at the concert in Futog there were a lot of small children and women who were hit with paint and that Jovan who defended them was actually a hero.
"Together with the Futos choir, we will file a criminal complaint against NA and the other attackers who came to the rally to cause chaos. The saddest part of the whole story is that those criminals were released, and our brother Jovan is in court awaiting a decision on custody. We all came here for our "clothes and bread", no one dragged us on buses and no one paid us to be here and cause some disturbances. We came because we are fed up with this crime and this mafia that hijacked our country, that arrests wonderful people like Jovan, and releases convicted criminals who abuse them to do their dirty work - Dimović said.
As he added, he has only one message for the regime, he will be here until Jovan is released, that is, however long it takes.
In the name of the Belgrade Union, as he points out, he will not surrender until this country is free.
"Great support for the policeman who reacted as the people's police should react and arrested that "cat" who threw paint at people. You all saw what happened, the man was suspended, the police are slowly starting to stand with the people, so we have to support them as well, it is already clear to everyone that this country was stolen from the mafia and it is up to all of us to return it to the citizens of Serbia," Dimović said.
Nebojša Jeličić, a resident of Futog who was a security guard at that concert, notes that it was also a humanitarian concert for a girl from Futog who was seriously ill. He adds that mostly families with children came to the concert.
"I was expecting incidents, but not really to that extent. I was surprised that there were so many provocateurs. They were coming from the embankment, they were driven by a BMW, there were at least thirty of them. The police did their job superbly, if they hadn't been there there would have been an escalation and who knows how it would have ended. The police searched them and took away the eggs they were carrying. However, they went somewhere again to get the eggs, returned them and tried to approach the stage again. We were like "The guards tried to surround everyone who was suspicious. Some guys went through and caused a serious problem. They put bags of paint in their pants and you can literally see them unbuttoning and throwing paint on the stage," he said.
Let us remind you that the members of the Belgrade Union were splashed with paint on Saturday during the performance in Futog and the song "Mojne da si čaci".
Some of the guys who threw paint at the performers and the audience were detained by the police, and one policeman was even suspended because of it.
In the video that is spreading on social networks, you can see how a man with a bag full of paint tries to aim at the stage, but actually hits a girl in the audience in the head with all his strength. After that, there is a commotion and Jovan knocks that man to the ground with a blow, after which he gets up and runs away.
