It is not yet known when the emergency will be parliamentary elections since the president Aleksandar Vučić postponed the date when he will announce the date.
On Tuesday, the campaign seemed to heat up. Vučić himself cynically said that the students' candidates are the rector Vladan Djokic and the famous basketball player Dejan Bodiroga and that they have great chances.
Although, according to "Vremena", student list has not been fully clarified and although it is not known whether there will be quick elections at all, the regime's campaign directed its blade precisely at the rector of the Belgrade University.
"He should get involved in state politics"
Đokić was called a "thief" and a "murderer", hate graffiti all over Serbia was dedicated to him by name. In outbursts of anger, Vučić accuses Đokić of "doing politics", claiming that as rector he should not do that.
"According to his function, the rector is involved in politics, i.e. management of the university," Pak says Oliver Toskovic, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.
"In the situation of growing repression and autocracy in Serbia, it is to some extent the obligation of citizens to get actively involved in politics, so that is expected from the rector as well. Therefore, it is a question of a qualified man, experienced in management, conciliatory, constructive, but with a clear attitude," Tošković told our newsletter Međuvreme.
As he adds, "with the support of a certain political group" Đokić should "get involved in state politics". "And that would be good for all of us."

The warm rabbit will just pass by.
Đokić himself is reserved on this issue, at least publicly. Like the others who are only speculated to be on the student list, he leaves that decision and the moment of announcement to the students.
"As for the possible prime ministerial or presidential role, it will be determined by the students and confirmed by the citizens," he recently told Radar.
Professor Tošković says that it may not be easy for Đokić to separate the role of rector and a possible candidate for the highest office, until the date and the candidates are known, and the campaign in some way begins.
For him, says Tošković, there will be more inconveniences in his private life as well. It is already passing the regime's warm rabbit.
"The decision to enter politics directly is not really a choice between the 'kingdom of earth' and the 'kingdom of heaven', but between current power with submission to force on the one hand and spiritual value, sacrifice, freedom and moral victory on the other," adds Tošković for Medjuvreme.
