On Friday, Jagodina organizes a rally Serbian Progressive Party. Information is circulating that the party membership is inviting a large number of people to this meeting, with conditions and threats.
It is assumed that this city was chosen symbolically because of the joining of the United Serbia political party to the new ruling party movement, and a few months after the death of its leader and founder Dragan Marković Palma.
As the Kragujevac portal Rhythm of the City writes, it is expected that the Serbian Progressive Party will gather a large number of people from this city, who will then go to the meeting in Jagodina.
Information appeared unofficially that the quota for Kragujevac is 3000 people. It is assumed that they will gather again in large numbers and take buses for a short trip.
The SNS raised the "combat readiness" of its members before a new important meeting with meetings with coalition partners and joint stands on Saturday at Vojvode Radomir Putnik Square, and last night a meeting of the town board was also held.
It's a similar story in Niš.
The interlocutor of "Vremen", who wished to remain anonymous, said that he received an invitation to go to the meeting of progressives on Friday.
"They started conditioning people to go to Jagodina. In my company, there has been talk for days about the fact that on Friday, at 14:XNUMX, several buses will leave for Jagodina. They called me too, but I definitely won't go", he said.
Such statements are also in the statement of the Movement for the Revolution (PzP).
"Threats of dismissal, non-renewal of contracts, forcing them to cancel annual vacations are increasingly used means of coercion by which local officials of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) pressure people to support the president," the statement reads.
Each local SNS board has a certain quota of people it must bring to the meeting, PzP claims.
"It is already a well-established practice of the ruling party, which is used whenever it is necessary to satisfy Vučić's need for self-promotion." The question arises, can we expect people to be fenced off with barbed wire so that no one would manage to escape from the "voluntary" rally in support of the president?", the statement of the Movement for the Revolution of Janko Veselinović states, and they call on people to resist this pressure.
On social networks, several users wrote that 15.000 dinars are offered to citizens and employees of state enterprises for coming to the rally.
General strike in response to the rally
The students in the blockade called on the citizens of Serbia for a total suspension of all activities on Friday, January 24.
"We don't go to work, we don't go to lectures, we don't do our daily duties." Let's take freedom into our own hands! Your participation makes a difference," the students' Instagram post said.
The students specified that the term "general strike" refers to general civil disobedience.
They explained that employees can participate by not going to work on Friday or by organizing a work stoppage with their colleagues.
"If you are afraid of your employer, take a day off, take a sick leave, donate blood," the students' announcement reads.
When it comes to employers, academics advise them to give employees the day off, to cancel scheduled meetings and to inform clients of the reasons for not working.
