While the public is arguing that because of the case of disappearance Aleksandar Nešović Baja the police minister should have taken resignation, the minister himself says that he does not think there is any reason for that.
Ivica Dacic stated on Sunday (May 24) that he bears no responsibility in the case of the arrested and dismissed Belgrade police chief Veselin Milić, who is among the suspects in the "Senjak" case.
Dacic said that as a minister he did everything he could, and that he did not participate in a criminal act.
"Why would I resign", Dacic asked in a guest appearance on TV Prva, responding to comments that his resignation would be a "logical and just move" after the "Senjak" affair.
He stated that the police "do not discuss resignations, but about who is guilty and who is not", adding that he did not appoint Milić to the position and that the police is managed by the police director.
Dacic said that, as the Minister of the Interior, he first revoked the decision by which Milić was appointed to the position, and then made a decision on his dismissal until the end of the proceedings.
"Veselin Milić is from the milieu of former police director Veljović, who was appointed by the Democratic Party. But he had good results in Belgrade, and Belgrade was and is one of the safest cities," Dačić said.
