Inspector Slobodan Milenkovic is ready to be called by the Court as a witness, one of his representatives, Mila Tomanović, told Vreme.
Milenković, the former head of Belgrade's Narcotics Department who exposed "Jovanjica" with his colleagues, has not yet been questioned because he was on sick leave.
"Inspector Milenkovic ended his sick leave, started working and is waiting for the court to call him to testify," says Tomanovic.
The court ignores 660 kilograms of weed
Without waiting for his testimony, the Court decided to exclude from the evidentiary material 660 kilograms of dried cannabis, found on the alleged agricultural property.
Another inspector, Dušan Mitić, described that farm in his testimony as perhaps the largest marijuana plantation in Europe. As he said, the policemen "were not comfortable" with exposing "Jovanjica" as a "state business", claiming that the owner of the property, Predrag Koluvija, had a deal even with today's Minister of Police Bratislav Gašić.
The Court of Appeal has already overturned the decision of the High Court on the separation of evidence once. And now the Prosecution appealed to the Court of Appeals against the decision of the first instance to exclude dried marijuana from the evidence.
That decision is pending. As BIRN reported on Tuesday, the Court of Appeal has not even received the lawsuit yet, so we will have to wait.
"Vremen" sources doubt that the authorities will prevent Milenkovic from speaking, or at least postpone it until after the elections. Now it might be too spicy.
"There is no doubt that Milenkovic's testimony is a potential political risk and there are many doubts that the removal of his testimony is precisely related to the upcoming elections," lawyer Mila Tomanović tells us.
Inspectors at "other workplaces"
By the way, Milenković and Mitić claim that they are threatened and that their murder was ordered for half a million euros each. That is why they are also provided by the SAJ elite unit.
On the other hand, both of them were regretted - that is, "transferred to other jobs". Thus, Milenkovic is now a "coordinator" with a vague job description, and Mitić is in the Department for War Crimes.
Both want to return to the Narcotics Unit and finish the job they started.
Namely, the proceedings of "Jovanjica 1" and "Jovanjica 2" are proceeding sloppily, and the inspectors claim that there is enough evidence for "Jovanjica 3" as well, where the political background of the giant skunk plantation would be clarified.
