President of the Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic she stated on Tuesday that the meeting with the rapporteur of the European Parliament Tonina Picula was "good and open" and that she told him about the draft resolution he had prepared that it was "shameful and full of misinformation".
Brnabić told reporters that she did not know who was boycotting Pizzula, because all parliamentary groups met with him, but the President and Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and Miloš Vučević, did not.
She stated that the president does not have to meet with anyone from the European Parliament, because the Parliament of Serbia is responsible for the EP, adding that she does not even know what the topic of the meeting would be, after everything Picula said about Serbia.
"Was I the happiest to have a date with Tonino Pizzula?" No," said Brnabić, explaining that she met with him "out of respect for the European Parliament" and its president, Roberta Mezzola.
When asked why she refused to shake hands with Picula, Brnabić said that she shook hands and that journalists are trying to deceive the public, and that she does not refuse to shake hands with people.
Commenting on the arrest of Croatian citizens during student protests, she asked how Serbian citizens would fare if they were protesting in Zagreb against the legitimately elected government.
Brnabić asked how the citizens of Serbia would fare if they blocked traffic in Zagreb.
