The foundation stone for the beginning has been laid construction of the national football stadium in Surčin. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, attends the ceremony of the start of works on stadium construction, he writes RTS.
And with him are the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming, President of the Football Association of Serbia Dragan Džajić, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić and others.
Vučić stated that the national stadium must be completed by December 1, 2026, and that it was agreed that the Europa League final will be played there in 2028, as well as that it will be one of the three most beautiful in Europe.
"The finals of the Europa League 2028 will be played in Belgrade at the national stadium," said Vučić. And the citizens will decide on the name of the stadium, because they are "smarter".

As "Vreme" previously wrote calculations that appeared in the media say that the total value of the works could reach as much as 540 million euros.
In last year's budget, 7,7 billion dinars were provided for the construction of the stadium, and in the budget for 2024, 13 billion dinars.

Construction according to FIFA and UEFA standards
The national football stadium will have around 52.000 seats and will be built according to all FIFA and UEFA standards. It will be circular in shape and will cover 32 hectares. And it will be built according to Mark Fenwick's architectural design.
During yesterday's day, the president and his team looked at stadiums in Europe, and he said that the one in Sručin will be one of the three most beautiful.
"There are also smaller ones that are beautiful. We watched Real, Wembley, San Siro, Espanyol, which is a small stadium," said Vučić and added that the stadium is a place where people will have fun and enjoy themselves.

There will be cafes, kiosks and restaurants around the stadium, as well as three theme parks.
There will be plenty of space for walking, but also enough space for cars, bearing in mind that 10.000 parking spaces are planned.
Apart from the National Stadium, the construction of facilities for Expo 2027 will also begin.
And all this will be possible by air.
"We will have a flying taxi," Vucic said. "We are working on it with several European and Chinese companies."
And at the specialized EXPO exhibition in Belgrade in 2027, 140 countries and three million visitors are expected.
