The State Department has decided: USAID is shutting down

The Agency for International Development (USAID) is being dissolved, the State Department informed, and the reorganization of USAID will be completed by July 1. "Thanks to President Trump, that misguided and fiscally irresponsible period is now over," said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

How and why USAID failed

Perhaps this is an opportunity for the non-governmental and non-profit sector to return to its roots - to once again become the voice of those who really need it, and not just a tool in the hands of donors. If we don't find alternative ways of financing now, if we don't figure out how to maintain what has been created over the years, everything will fall into the hands of those who see democracy as a problem. After US President Donald Trump made a decision to freeze US aid (USAID) worldwide, many people close to the regime are rubbing their hands with satisfaction because "anti-Serbian" non-governmental organizations and the media will be left without part of the funding - although the biggest loser is the state of Serbia
