Russian media previously reported that Muscovites have noticed an infestation of ladybugs. They appear in flocks on windows in some parts of the city, writes Politika.
According to biologists from the Department of Environmental Management, there is no ladybug infestation in Moscow.
"The reason for the behavior that attracted the attention of the city's residents is simple. On the eve of the cold season, insects are looking for places to winter, and now the windows of houses are well warmed by the sun, so ladybugs concentrate there. This is a seasonal phenomenon," the department said.
Invasion on a Russian beach
This is not the first such case on the territory of Russia.
Namely, in the summer of 2021, a female tourist filmed a swarm of ladybugs covering the sand on a beach in the Krasnodar region.
Ladybug infestations usually occur in warm, dry areas, and the tourist said that the weather is wet in the Krasnodar Territory.
"In nine years, we've never seen anything like this here." We came to the beach and in one night so many of them flew there," she said.
