Ukraine carried out one of the heaviest drone attacks on Russian territory in recent months, hitting logistics facilities in several Russian regions. According to Russian officials, at least eight people were killed in the attacks, while dozens were wounded.
The target of the attack was the large warehouses of the Russian Internet company "Wildberries" in the Tambov region and in the nearby city of Elektrostal Moscow. Large fires broke out in the buildings, and the Russian authorities announced that among the victims were workers who were in warehouses during the night shift.
The most victims were recorded in the warehouse in the city of Kotovsk in the Tambov region, where, according to the local authorities, seven workers were killed, while several people were injured. There were also casualties and injuries in the attack on the facility in the Moscow region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that long-range strikes had been carried out, saying the targets were "important logistics facilities" linked to the supply of components for the production of drones and navigation equipment. Kiev claims that these are facilities that play a role in Russia's military capabilities.
In addition to the warehouse, Ukrainian drones also hit an energy facility in the Moscow region, where a fire broke out at an oil plant. Local authorities announced that there were evacuations and additional interventions by emergency services due to the incident.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that during the night several hundred Ukrainian drones were shot down over several Russian regions, as well as over the annexed Crimea and the surrounding seas. Moscow announced the continuation of strikes on Ukrainian targets.
Zelensky: Russia carried out one of the most massive ballistic attacks
Russia responded to this attack by bombing Kiev. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia carried out one of the most massive ballistic missile attacks on Kiev and its surroundings last night by launching more than 40 missiles of different types, as well as 120 drones, in which one person was killed and 16 injured.
Zelenski published a video of the attack on social networks, emphasizing that the interventions of the emergency services continue at three locations, with the involvement of almost 600 members of those services.
"It is also essential to continue to put pressure on Russia, in parallel with our work on strengthening ballistic missile defense capabilities. The delay in making new decisions gives Moscow the opportunity to plan not only new attacks on our people, but also ways to circumvent new sanctions," Zelensky said.
