Ukraine claims to have hit dozens of long-range bombers across the country Russia, with drones that were smuggled in wooden crates on trucks and then launched from nearby locations.
There was no independent confirmation of the attack announced by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
However, Russian Telegram channels published numerous photos and videos showing drones flying from trucks, as well as some containers exploding or burning, in several locations, writes Radio Free Europe.
The agency, known as the SBU, has released its own video that appears to show drones hitting Russian bombers at several bases.
The bombers played a key role in Russia's war, firing long-range cruise missiles at Ukrainian targets well beyond the range of Ukrainian air defenses.
Authorities in several Russian regions have confirmed that Ukrainian drones have been sighted, although it is unclear whether any aircraft were hit.
Air bases in the northern Murmansk and central Ryazan regions, as well as a base in the Siberian region of Irkutsk, located more than 5200 kilometers east of the Ukrainian border, were reportedly hit.
