Exchange of prisoners the only more concrete outcome is the Russian-Ukrainian one negotiations in Istanbul, where Turkey, as the host, called for a ceasefire "as soon as possible", the agencies report.
The exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia in the ratio "1.000 for 1.000" could take place in the near future, announced Ukrainian Defense Minister and head of the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul Rustem Umerov, commenting on the outcome of negotiations with the Russian delegation in Istanbul, Ukrainian agency Ukrinform reported.
"We already know the date, but we won't announce it yet," Umerov said.
The first direct meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in March 2022 ended today after about an hour and 40 minutes of talks, a source from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
A Ukrainian source said that Russia has made new, unacceptable demands.
According to the report of the Moscow agency TASS, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, said that he was satisfied with the outcome of the talks and that Moscow was ready to continue communication.
The parties agreed on the exchange of prisoners of war in the ratio of '1.000 for 1.000'. According to Medinsky, Ukraine requested direct talks between the leaders of the two countries, and Russia "considered" it.
Moscow and Kiev will present their vision of a possible ceasefire, and each side will "explain it in detail", according to TASS, noting that the head of the Russian delegation said the two sides plan to continue negotiations.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, said that Kiev primarily discussed a ceasefire. He also announced an agreement to exchange 1.000 prisoners of war from each side. Umerov did not reveal further plans for the talks, the TASS agency reported.
