In Tirana, the capital city Albania on Tuesday, April 15th, it broke out fire in the modern residential and business complex "Arlis", located in the neighborhood in the immediate vicinity of the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center.
According to official information from the competent services, at least 11 people requested emergency medical assistance, mainly due to respiratory problems caused by the thick smoke that covered that part of the city. Fortunately, there were no casualties, as a quick evacuation prevented a tragic outcome.
The fire broke out on the upper floors of the building, and due to the height and inaccessibility of the terrain, in addition to 50 firefighters and eight fire engines, two helicopters from the Ministry of Defense were involved in extinguishing the fire. The intervention lasted several hours until the fire was finally brought under control, preventing its spread to neighboring buildings.
The material damage to the complex is enormous, and several apartments and business premises were completely destroyed. Police and emergency teams remained on the ground throughout the night.
Although the official results of the investigation have not yet been published, preliminary suspicions indicate that the cause could be a failure of electrical installations or flammable insulation materials, which will be confirmed after a detailed expert examination.
