How much did train tickets go up?

Starting today, July 15, train tickets have also become more expensive. How much on which routes and is train transportation still the cheapest?

Sve it is getting more expensive, and even tickets for voice. By ten percent. For now.

"This price correction will enable continued improvement of services, continuous improvement of transportation quality and better user experience, which includes further modernization of the sales network, procurement of new trains for greater passenger comfort, as well as works on the construction of technical passenger stations and other important investments", it was announced earlier from Srbijavoz, as reported by the portal 021.rs.

Despite this increase, "railway transportation still remains significantly cheaper compared to most road carriers," claims Srbijavoz.

The principle of degression

Because the "principle of degression" has been maintained, which means that passengers on longer distances are offered a lower price per kilometer and a more favorable trip, which keeps railway traffic competitive.

The increase in prices includes individual tickets, as well as all categories of subscription tickets (seven-day, semi-monthly and monthly).

The prices of annual tickets, seat reservations, as well as the prices of tickets for transporting luggage and bicycles remain unchanged.

A fee of 500 dinars is not a penalty

A fee of 500 dinars is retained for passengers who started their journey at a station with a ticket office or ticket machine and did not secure a ticket before boarding the train. The same fee of 500 dinars also applies to passengers with return tickets, if during the check it is determined that the passenger boarded a train that does not correspond to the selected train number and travel date indicated on the ticket (both on departure and return).

"This fee cannot be seen as a punishment. Buying tickets on the train significantly complicates capacity management and the work of the train staff. The primary role of the conductor is to check tickets and enforce traffic regulations, which is impossible to do well if there are a large number of passengers on the train without a ticket," say Srbijavoz.

Ticket prices on certain routes

The new ticket prices that will be valid from July 15 for certain routes are:

Belgrade – Valjevo: The one-way Regio ticket increases from 632 to 702 dinars, while the Inter Regio ticket goes from 712 to 792 dinars. The monthly Regio ticket now costs RSD 9.906 instead of RSD 9.005.

Belgrade – Uzice: The one-way Regio ticket was increased from 960 to 1.058 dinars, and the Inter Regio ticket from 1.040 to 1.148 dinars.
