State-owned enterprise Exspo 2027 announced a tender for the procurement of 50 electric buses and eight chargers for passenger transportation at the Expo location, it was announced on Friday (February 27) on the public procurement portal.
It is about 41 solo buses and nine articulated buses, the advertisement states. Bids can be sent by domestic and foreign bidders until April 2. Offered prices are, along with quality, a criterion for awarding contracts.
What about these buses after the exhibition
Vehicles and chargers will be purchased with the funds of the Republic of Serbia for the needs of the international specialized exhibition Expo 2027, and then transferred City transport company Belgrade, said the president of the union "Centar" of that company, Ivan Banković, reports FoNet.
He explained that during the duration of the exhibition, from May 15 to August 15, 2027, the buses will transport participants and guests, after which they will also operate on other public transport lines in Belgrade.
The double-axle buses will be 24 meters long, have five doors, and capacity for at least 180 passengers, 50 of which are seats. Solo buses will have a minimum capacity of 80 passengers, of which 26 are seats.
All vehicles will be equipped with systems for storing electrical energy and charging via supercapacitors, platforms for people with disabilities, air conditioning with automatic temperature regulation, video surveillance, passenger counting system, remote vehicle monitoring and free Wi-Fi Internet, the announcement stated.
Banković said that this is the first time in the history of GSP that electric buses with two joints are being procured, assessing that this is a strategically important investment for more stable operations of the company.
The chargers, he said, will be installed at the Block 45, Block 20, Vuk Monument terminals and at the new Expo terminal in Surčin, reports FoNet.
At the end of February 2025, it was announced that the state will acquire 100 electric buses, but the number in this procurement is half that.
