Diesel at pumps in Serbia has risen in price by 17 dinars, and gasoline by 10 dinars per liter in 40 days, i.e. since the beginning of the war in Iran and the great global energy crisis. We compare price increases in Serbia with other European countries

A liter of Eurodiesel from April 9 to 17 will cost a maximum of 217 dinars per liter, and the price of Europremium BMB gasoline will be 191 dinars per liter, he announced. the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. Compared to last week, this is an increase of three dinars for diesel per liter, or two dinars for one liter of gasoline.

However, if the calculation is looked at in relation to Friday, February 27, the day before outbreak of the crisis in the Middle East, i.e. the day before America attacked Iran, the price differences at the pumps are much larger.

The price of a liter of diesel rose by as much as 17 dinars, and gasoline by 10 dinars. As a rule, fuel prices spill over to the other costs of citizens' lives the fastest, because they directly affect the increase in the cost of transporting food and all other goods, as well as all services.

How is it in other countries

Other neighboring countries also faced an increase in energy prices. The price of gasoline in Croatia as of April 7, 2026 is about 1,66 euros per liter for Eurosuper 95, while the price of diesel has risen to about 1,85 euros per liter.

Fuel prices in Croatia are about 14 percent higher than on February 23, according to the site's calculation fuel-prices.eu. In Germany and Greece, the difference is 17 percent, and in Poland even 22 percent, and it is similar in the Czech Republic.

Fuel is only six percent more expensive in Slovenia, and five percent in Hungary.

Controlled prices

On March 23, the Government of Serbia extended the Regulation on limiting the prices of oil derivatives, which will be valid for another 150 days, ie until mid-August. Also, the government changed the regulation on limiting the price of oil derivatives and raised the price of diesel for farmers by two dinars, from 179 to 181 dinars, and then by another three dinars, so that it is now 184 dinars per liter.

The state reduced excise duties on fuel, banned the export of oil and oil derivatives until May 2, and decided to release 40.000 tons of diesel from reserves.
