Former Minister Goran Vesić he said before the prosecution that he had no obligation or knowledge that they were on Railway station in Novi Sad there were any defects.
This is exactly what is stated in the indictment of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office for the fall of the canopy, based on the testimony of former minister Goran Vesić heard on November 22, 2024.
Vesić then pointed out that "he is not considered responsible for that, nor could he influence it, and that the station was not put into operation because he came to the opening."
The prosecutor assessed some of Goran Vesić's claims as "absolutely absurd and senseless".
Portal 021.rs received a copy of the confirmed indictment in the "Nadstrešnica" case from the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad, based on the Request for Access to Information of Public Importance.
During the hearing, Vesić denied that the lobby of wing B of the railway station in Novi Sad was put into operation on the basis of his order.
He pointed out that neither by any act nor by any act did he take part in making the decision to put vestibule B into operation, nor was it within the competence of the Ministry, that is, the minister, nor was it stipulated by any regulation that the minister should make a decision about it.
He also mentioned that the investor and the contractor agreed on the dynamics of the reconstruction of the railway station and that work was carried out in accordance with that agreement, as well as that the first part of the station was put into operation in March 2022.
When it comes to the handover procedure of the lobby of wing B, Vesić expected that it started on June 11, 2025, when the Chinese consortium (contractor) submitted its letter to the expert supervision consortium, and the letter was then sent to the "Serbian Railway Infrastructure" (investor).
In this letter, it is stated that the contractor has completed the work necessary for the safe movement of passengers in the lobby of wing B and that he is submitting a request for internal acceptance by the "Railway Infrastructure of Serbia" and that after that passengers will be able to use lobby B and all its contents.
As stated in the indictment, Vesić said that he found out about this letter only at the police after the canopy fell.
During the hearing, Vesić also said that in the mutual communication, and in connection with the internal admission process, his relevant ministry was not mentioned anywhere, but Anita Dimoski, his assistant, was familiar with the correspondence - on behalf of the Ministry as the financier of the works, reports 021.rs.
Dimoski's task was to monitor the procedures and events related to the implementation of the works so that after their completion, the invoice would be submitted to the Ministry for payment.
The internal handover, Vesić explained at the time, was completed on July 4, and the following day "Infrastructure of the Railways of Serbia" and "Srbija Voz" deployed their employees, which started the sale of tickets in the lobby of wing B, cleaning and renting out the office space.
The lobby of Wing B was officially opened on July 5.
During the hearing, Vesić said that the ceremony was of a political nature in the presence of the media, as well as with the presence of city and provincial officials, as well as Tanasković and Dimoski.
"The act that took place on July 5, 2024 did not cause any consequences, nor was the lobby of wing B put into operation because of that act, but it is only a matter of announcement, because all legal actions were completed earlier and that act would not have happened if it had not happened previously, and it is not true that he opened and put into operation the lobby of wing B," the indictment reads.
With the decision of the "Infrastructure of Railways of Serbia" and "Srbija Voz", Vesić stated, the lobby started working on the same day, and the former minister pointed out that he would not have even come to the opening if his assistant Dimoski had not told him that the internal reception was over.
In Vesić's testimony, it is also stated that Dimoski did not inform him that there was any problem related to the reconstruction, emphasizing that he did not even attend all the meetings, but that he was at only two meetings and that was when he was supposed to speed up the holders of public authority, i.e. companies, to resolve requests within their jurisdiction more quickly.
