Fourteen people were arrested on October 19 in Derwent, a city in the north Of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and are charged with animal abuse and organization dog fighting.
In the "Sambo" police operation, a location in Derventa was searched, where 84 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro were found, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the entity Republika Srpska (RS) announced.
The police interviewed 70 people as witnesses, and criminal charges will be filed against 14 arrested for abuse and torture of animals, trafficking and facilitating the use of drugs.
The corpses of killed dogs, as well as several injured animals, were also found, and money, drugs, and other items were taken.
For abusing and killing animals, the criminal laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to fines, provide for sentences of up to two years in prison.
