In an address on Facebook, Dzheljalj Svečlja pointed out that the new regulation enables re-acquisition Kosovo citizenship for those who were forced to give it up for objective reasons.
Of the nine documents that were previously required, now a completed application is sufficient, as well as proof that the person has not been convicted of a criminal offense by a final judgment in the country in which he lives, Svečlja explained.
The application can also be submitted on the e-Kosovo platform, and the deadline for considering the request has been shortened from six months to 30 days.
Difficult for those born outside of Kosovo
The non-governmental organization Casa emphasized that the new Citizenship Law could further complicate the registration of citizens born abroad Kosova.
In the report, uneven administrative practices, excessive costs, problems in obtaining civil status documents for persons born outside of Kosovo, short deadlines, lack of effective legal protection, as well as issues related to family reunification and citizenship acquisition procedures, are highlighted in the report, reports Kim radio.
