Students in the blockade iz Niche announced that the Appellate Court in Belgrade had abolished it detention to the two students arrested afterwards protest on June 28th.
The announcement states that Dimitrije Dimić, a student at the Faculty of Law in Niš and Luka Stevanović, a student at the Faculty of Economics in Kragujevac, along with other colleagues, were arrested after a protest held in Belgrade on Vidovdan.
"We perceive the decision of the Court of Appeal as the first step towards justice, but we emphasize that the fight is not over yet. We demand a fair and transparent procedure, as well as the suspension of all politically motivated persecution of students and citizens who fight for truth and freedom", said the students in the blockade.
They add that Dimić and Stevanović are charged with the criminal offense under Article 320 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Serbia - Preparing an act against the constitutional order and security of Serbia, in connection with the criminal offense under Article 309 - Calling for a violent change of the constitutional order.
They, the students in the blockade pointed out, were previously exposed to "pressure, stigmatization and accusations of serious crimes, without concrete evidence and with serious suspicions that the whole process is politically motivated."
The investigation related to alleged activities at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering, where workshops related to protests were held.
