TV Nova S and N1: Complete interruption of programs in Serbia

Anyone who wanted to watch the morning program on Nova S and N1 television this morning ran into a black screen that read: darkness in Serbia without free media. Without any further explanation

On the Nova S portal, it only says that the Nova S and N1 televisions, which operate within United Media, have been broadcasting a newscast with the caption: Darkness in Serbia without free media since midnight on December 6, instead of the regular program.

On the social networks of these two televisions, there is also nothing about the reasons for interrupting the program. The employees of these two media houses do not want to make any statements.

All that remains is speculation.

They were not forcibly imprisoned, the former radicals learned that lesson during the rule of Slobodan Milošević.

Is it a protest due to the targeting of journalists and editors of these two television stations, the daily calls from the top of the government through the regime media that they are traitors, foreign mercenaries, anti-Serbs, and so on?

Or is it a protest due to REM's decision to simply ignores the legal deadline for the award of the fifth national fecency? That's right, because they can, and the head of REM, Olivera Zekić, received such a directive and said: according to the Law on Administrative Procedure, there is no deadline for resolving the case of granting the fifth license for a television frequency with national coverage. And when will they make a decision? Well one day.

On August 10, the Council of the REM announced a public competition for the issuance of one license for broadcasting a television program in the territory of the whole of Serbia, three licenses for broadcasting from the Avala allotment, as well as for 12 licenses for radio broadcasting in the area of the city of Belgrade, writes portal N1. Candidates for the fifth frequency with national coverage are: Nova S, Kopernikus, Kurir and BK. In the previous competition, licenses for frequencies with national coverage for a period of eight years were awarded to Pink, Happy, Prva and B92 televisions.

How long these two televisions will not broadcast the program is also unknown at this time.
