The Student List asked RTS for additional clarifications after inviting Ilija Srdanović to a debate with Aleksandar Vučić. The students say that they are not closed to the conversation on the public service, but they expect the topic, format, duration and expected interlocutors to be known in advance.
The student list did not rule out the possibility of a debate with Aleksandar Vučić on RTS, but is asking the public service for additional information about the topic, format, duration and participants.
In response to RTS, the media team "Student lists - students win" stated that before making a decision, they want to know in which capacity Vučić would participate in the debate - as the president of Serbia or as the holder of the "United Serbia" list in the parliamentary elections.
"In order for us to even consider talking to someone who pardoned those who attacked students, trampled them with cars and broke their jaws, we would have to, at least, know whether he is acting in them as the president of the state, which is the position he holds at the time of making this call, or the holder of the list in the parliamentary elections," the students said.
On the occasion of RTS' invitation, the students announced on the X social network that they are open to programmatic and thematic debates and conversations on the public service. At the same time, they assessed that the format should not presuppose that each election list must be represented by one person.
"Srdanović is not a holder in the sense in which that term is defined by the electoral law"
In particular, they pointed to the wording of RTS's call according to which Ilija Srdanović would represent their list. As they stated, Srdanović is the first candidate on the "Student list - Students are winning" list, but he is not its holder in the sense in which that term is defined by the electoral law.
"Our list does not have the name of one man in its name and is not designed around one candidate," the students stated.
Along with the Student list, RTS also invited the director of Crta Vukosava Crnjanski. She refused to participate, explaining that Crta is not a participant in the elections, but an organization that observes them.
The students stated that their list gathers people from different professional fields and that therefore the election debates should be organized so that the participants are chosen in accordance with the topic of discussion.

"Precise information on the topic of the debate, format, duration and interlocutors"
They asked RTS for precise information about the topic of the debate, format, duration and expected interlocutors. They also stated that they understand that the previously announced draw refers to the terms of mandatory presentation of election lists, and not to the selection of representatives for thematic debates.
"In an earlier communication, you stated that RTS does not insist on certain names in debate shows, but leaves it to the electoral lists to decide who will represent them depending on the topic. We expect the same principle to be applied in this case as well," said the students.
In their answer, they referred to the broader role of RTS during the election campaign. They expect from the public service, as they stated, "equal, fair, balanced and impartial monitoring of election participants".
The students assessed that RTS's relationship with the student movement was already the subject of a public dispute and requested that the principles stated by the public service in its rules be applied in the daily news program as well - through the monitoring of their activities, events and programs under the same professional criteria as the activities of other election participants.
They announced that, after receiving more precise information about the debate, they would decide who from their list would fit the proposed topic and format and then respond to RTS in a timely manner.

RTS call
Let us remind you that Radio-television of Serbia invited the holder of the list "United Serbia - Aleksandar Vučić" Aleksandar Vučić and the first on the list "Student list - Students are winning" Ilija Srdanović to the debate.
In addition to Vučić and Srdanović, the representatives of the two lists that, according to existing research, have the greatest chance of winning mandates in the next convocation of the National Assembly, the director of the civil society organization "Crta" Vukosava Crnjanski was also invited to participate in the RTS show, it was announced on the RTS website.
As stated, two dates for the debate were offered - Tuesday, September 29, and Thursday, October 1, both at 21 p.m.
RTS stated that during the election campaign, the aim of the show is to open a space for a "serious and reasoned discussion" about issues important to the citizens of Serbia, different political positions and programs, but also about the conditions in which the election process takes place.
