Study at UNIRSM in the blockade are the winners of this year's "Contribution of the Year to Europe" award, which is awarded by European movement in Serbia, and in the explanation it is stated that the youth are the ones who should shape politics in Serbia and Europe.
The representative of the students to whom the award was presented said today at the "Youth and the European Union" debate that for more than six months they have been persevering in the fight with faith in justice and in a society that deserves to be free, in which the institutions will do their job.
"Our demands are still not met and the struggle will continue until they are fulfilled. We continue as we have been doing from now on - peacefully and with dignity, guided by the belief that change is possible. Our struggle has created a wave that can be heard, not only in Serbia, but throughout Europe," he said.
As he added, this recognition shows that they are not alone, that unity, courage and the fight for democratic values โโare recognized and that they have the power to change reality.
On behalf of the students, he thanked them for recognizing their efforts, voice and fight against all those who fight for injustice.
The President of the European Movement in Serbia Radomir Dikliฤ, who presented the award together with the President of the International European Movement Guy Verhofstadt, said that for more than half a year young people have been defending their country, dignity, right to education, freedom of speech, responsibility of institutions and the idea of โโa democratic society.
"The moment they decided to block the faculties, they shook the until then anesthetized social space and opened the process of questioning the society that had been silent for too long. Their fight is not exclusively academic. It is civic, essential, European and above all moral," said Dikliฤ.
As he pointed out, the students, with their uncompromising attitude, launched what Serbia has - solidarity and empathy, amazed and shook Europe and reminded everyone that civic values โโare alive, if there is someone to defend them.
