The agreement on strategic partnership in the field of energy between Serbia and the United States of America does not harm the interests of any country in the region, but is in the interest of the Western Balkans, said the spokesperson of the State Department.
"This agreement does not harm the interests of any other country in the region." On the contrary, we believe that it is in the interest of all the countries of the Western Balkans to diversify and expand their sources of energy", said the spokesperson of the State Department to Gazeta Express when asked whether this agreement will harm the interests of Kosovo, reports Kosovo Online.
The agreement on strategic cooperation between Serbia and the USA in the field of energy was signed a few days ago in Washington by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Đurić, and the US Undersecretary for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, Jose V. Fernandes.
On that occasion, Đurić pointed out that by concluding the Agreement, Serbia took an important and responsible step towards improving the partnership with the USA and a significant step towards ensuring long-term energy security.
The spokesperson of the US State Department told Gazeta Express that this agreement will expand the possibilities of American companies to invest in the energy sector in Serbia.
When asked if a similar agreement with Kosovo is expected, he replied that the US provides unwavering support, which includes cooperation on the development of green energy sources.
"There has been long-standing and unwavering support for Kosovo to develop its green energy sources, for example, through USAID assistance for Kosovo's first solar energy auction. In April of this year, an Agreement was signed between MCC and the Government of Kosovo, which unlocked a grant of 236 million to finance the acquisition of the largest area in the region with storage batteries," the spokesperson of the State Department reminded.
