After its statics are examined, Railway station in Novi Sad will be demolished, reconstructed or partially used in those parts that are completely safe, she announced Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic.
She stated that examining the statics of the building is still not physically possible due to the ban on entering the station building.
Sofronijević emphasized that the station building remains in the status quo without the possibility of entering and checking the complete statics of the building "until all issues are resolved", writes Tanjug
When asked when the high-speed railway from Novi Sad to Subotica will be opened, she said that the construction of the railway is finished when it comes to the lower and upper train of the railway, and that the railway will be opened when the inspection of all station buildings or only the railway without all stations is completed, which could happen already in the next month or months and a half.
She noted that the opening of the railway will also depend on coordination with Hungary, which is completing its section.
"We are all aware of how difficult and great the tragedy that happened last year in Novi Sad was, and that, of course, stopped the opening of this section from Novi Sad to Subotica. The physical realization on that railway, when it comes to the lower and upper train of the railway, is 100 percent. There is nothing more to be done. When it comes to station buildings, after this tragedy that happened, an order was given to check all station buildings and that procedure is currently underway flow", stated Sofronijević.
