Serbian Dejan Radić was brutally beaten and robbed in the night between Thursday and Friday, in his house, in Stari Gracko, in the municipality of Lipljan, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
Neighbor Milijana Marković says that they were woken up around midnight by Radić's calls for help, and that the police then came at their call.
When they asked Radić what was happening, he told them that he was attacked by Albanians who tied him up and beat him. After taking 2000 euros and the valuables they found in the house, the attackers fled, writes RTS.
According to his own statement, Radić managed to untie himself and go to the neighbors to ask for help.
The neighbors then called the police, who took a statement from Radić, looked at the house where he was beaten and robbed, and then left.
Milijana Marković also says that Dejan Radić had visible injuries on his face, and that he complained that he had been beaten.
Radić transferred to KBC Kosovska Mitrovica
"Dejan Radić is currently stable and referred to KBC Kosovska Mitrovica for further diagnostics," said the director of KBC Priština-Gračanica Bratislav Lazić.
Lazić stated that Radić was referred to KBC Kosovska Mitrovica for a CT scan of the head and neck, in order to see if there are any more serious injuries to the bone and soft tissue.
He added that for now there is no information on whether Radić has any fractures and that it remains to be seen after the diagnostics what kind and severity of the injuries we are talking about.
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that Radić was beaten with sticks and robbed by three attackers who spoke Albanian.
"The unfortunate man was helped by the neighbors, Serbs who called the police, because Dejan lives alone in the family home, given that his mother recently passed away," the statement said.
The attack is a consequence of the anti-Serb policy
The Office assesses that the brutal attack is a consequence of the anti-Serb policy and institutional violence carried out by Pristina and Aljbin Kurti against the Serbs.
It is added that this is one of the many examples of police brutality, which sends the message that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are desirable and legitimate targets of Albanians and that no one will be held accountable for their suffering.
"Attacks on Serbs have become everyday in Kosovo and Metohija, because all hatred breeds and inspires hatred, and the Serbs in this suffering village have no peace even after two and a half decades, but are once again being targeted by the Albanians," the statement said.
The attack, adds the Office, caused great concern and anxiety among the remaining Serbs living in Stari Gracko, because those whose duty it is to protect them, turn their heads to the other side, so as not to see their own shame.
According to the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, 12 attacks on Serbs or their property or the property of the Serbian Orthodox Church were recorded in Kosovo in August alone.
